Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Thomas Ruf
was a member of the research staff at inf6 from 1986 to 1996.
He holds a master's degree (Diplom-Informatiker, 1986) and a
Ph.D.(Dr.-Ing., 1991) in computer science (database systems). From Feb.
1992 until Feb. 1993, he was a visiting scientist at the IBM Almaden
Research Center in San Jose, California, where he worked in the Advanced
Manufacturing Process Control group. In 1996, he finished his habilitation
and earned the venia legendi for computer science. From 1996 through 2006,
he was division manager for systems development at GfK Marketing Services
in Nuremberg. In 2006, he became Managing Director of GfK Marketing
Services and joined the Global Retail & Technology Board at GfK. Since
1996, he regularly teaches courses on database systems and data
warehousing at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and other
institutions. In 2006, he was appointed associate professor (apl. Prof.)
at the the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.
