Mobile is either the name of the workflow management project conducted at the Department of Computer Science 6 (Database Systems) and the name of the prototype that is under development. The Mobile workflow management project was started in autumn 1994. It was conducted in several research and development projects either funded by government and industry. The main goal of this project is to investigate the foundations of workflow management. One major characteristics of the Mobile approach is its comprehensiveness. We foster that the core issues of workflow management can only be addressed if the concept is investigated in a comprehensive manner. Thus, our research not only focuses on selected, isolated technical aspects of workflow management but also takes into account organizational matters.
Results of the Mobile project have penetrated either the academic and the commercial field of workflow management. The Mobile concept has been approved by several successful applications in either research and industrial projects.
