Databases in Computer Networks (dbrn)
Content
Computer networks are state of the art today;
isolated computer systems diminish in number and relevance.
The operation of database systems in computer networks
requires new concepts
that go beyond those of centralized data management.
The lecture presents approaches
to database management in distributed systems.
Distributed databases,
parallel databases,
DB sharing and heterogeneous database systems are investigated.
In addition to that, another main chapter of the lecture
addresses the use and operation of database systems in the Internet.
