Multimedia Databases
Content
Database systems are today employed
as core components
of a variety of complex computer application systems.
Currently, the efforts in research, development, and applications
are directed towards the integration
of so-called non-standard applications.
In addition to complex objects,
which are treated in the lecture on
"Object-oriented Databases",
multimedia data objects
- such as digital images, audio recordings, and video sequences -
have to be managed,
for which the question of database storage also arises.
The lectures therefore discusses the consequences
for database technology
and presents the current state
as well as ongoing research.
